I'm out of steam for writing a blog post. Long - but GREAT - day at church, and an afternoon spent writing....
....a message.
I've been invited to be part of a teaching team "class" to develop some speaking and writing skills. We're meeting for the first time tomorrow, clutching our assignments in our sweaty hands. We received a passage of scripture, two reading assignments and a writing assignment of 12-15 minutes on the scripture. To be delivered orally.
I've done this before, but with a great deal of editing help and a lot of topical guidance. This time, I'm on my own. I've been researching and crafting this thing orally from notes for a few weeks, but I hadn't written the manuscript start to finish until today. Which turned out to be a very interesting exercise, because usually I put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard, actually) first, and then begin the oral editing. Here's the first thing I've learned: doing it backwards works. Very well, in fact.
At least in my opinion. Tomorrow I have to share this thing with a group of extremely intelligent, somewhat intimidating grown-ups. We'll see how it goes.
Deep breath.
