Love The Poor And Serve The Needy

My brother always makes me think. He posted this yesterday.

Does it make you think?

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn’t help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we’ve got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don’t want to do it."
Stephen Colbert

The truth hurts, doesn't it?! I've typed and deleted additonal comments 3 times...but I think I'll let it go instead of starting a fight on your blog. Thanks for the quote--I love Colbert.

I think I feel much the same as Donia. I miss watching Colbert and Stewart. Great stuff here.

Steve never lied, unless he made sure that you knew it and it was a joke. Soooo...just do it!!! C'mon down to Monroe Park on a Saturday, enjoy God's amazing place in the middle of the city, and talk with some folks that directly experience His love every day! They may talk rough as a cob (like the Apostles, being fishermen), but they are as gentle as our Lord to friends. All you have to do is say yes to Jesus, and be one!
